Gatchalian calls for deeper probe into death of two pilots who died in crash
Senator Sherwin Gatchalian has called on the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and other related government agencies to probe deeper into the recent death of the two pilots who were found dead after the aircraft they were manning reportedly crashed in the mountains of Bukidnon.
The remains of the two pilots were found near the wreckage of the FA-50 fighter jet that went missing. Authorities found that the jet crashed in the Kalatungan mountain range in the said province on Wednesday, March 5.
“I join the nation in mourning the death of two gallant Philippine Air Force pilots who dedicated their lives to serving and protecting our country, embodying the highest ideals of duty, courage, and patriotism,” Gatchalian said in a statement.
“Their sacrifice is a reminder of the risks our servicemen and women face every day in the line of duty,” he said.
“I urge authorities to conduct a thorough and transparent investigation to determine the cause of the crash that claimed the lives of Major Jude Salang-oy and 1Lt AJ Dadulla.
Gatchalian said the findings of this investigation should provide additional guidance and strengthen measures to ensure the safety of the country’s airmen in future missions.
“Buong puso ang ating pakikiramay sa naiwang pamilya at mga mahal sa buhay ng dalawang magiting na piloto (Our heartfelt condolences go out to the bereaved families and loved ones of the two brave pilots),” Gatchalian said.
