BUTUAN CITY – The Caraga region logged 2,369 dengue cases from Jan. 1 to March 1, a 23 percent increase compared to the same period last year with 1,921.

The case fatality rate is 0.63 percent, the Department of Health-13 said.
Four-hundred thirty-nine were confirmed dengue, 499 were probable, and 1,431 were uncertain.
Surigao del Norte reported 415 cases; Surigao del Sur, 434; Agusan del Norte, 171; Agusan del Sur, 464; and Dinagat Islands, 191.
Butuan City recorded 180 cases, Surigao City, 193; Cabadbaran City, 149; Tandag City, 102; Bislig City, 51, and Bayugan City 19.
DOH-13 Regional Director Dr. Cesar C. Cassion emphasized the importance of early medical consultation to prevent severe complications.
“Early medical consultation is strongly advised,” Cassion said.
He reiterated the importance of unified or community efforts to eliminate mosquito breeding sites.
Cassion advised residents to step up their efforts in the fight against dengue, particularly during the rainy season.
The DOH-13 urged communities, schools, and organizations to participate in regular cleanup drives, clear suspected mosquito breeding sites, spread awareness, and ensure early detection of symptoms.
Two DOH hospitals in Caraga have been designated as fast lanes for dengue cases, the Caraga Regional Hospital in Surigao City, Surigao del Norte, and the Adela Serra Ty Memorial Medical Center in Tandag City, Surigao del Sur.
