Seventeen's Wonwoo to start military service in April

K-pop group Seventeen member Wonwoo will enlist in the military in April, his agency, Pledis Entertainment, announced on March 5.

Wonwoo, 28, will enlist on April 3, becoming the second member of Seventeen to fulfill the mandatory duty for all Korean men.

Last September, Seventeen’s Jeonghan enlisted in the military and is currently serving as a social service agent.

“We would like to share the news that WONWOO of SEVENTEEN will be starting his mandatory military service from April 3 this year. As such, he will not be able to attend any of SEVENTEEN’s engagements after his enlistment, including the upcoming Tecate Pa'l Norte 2025 festival and Japan fanmeeting in April,” Pledis Entertainment said.

Before his enlistment, Wonwoo will participate “in the ‘SEVENTEEN in CARAT LAND’ concert as scheduled from March 20 to 21 and will be appearing in various pre-recorded content.”

Wonwoo will fulfill his duty in the alternative military service.

“There will be no official event on the day of his enlistment, and we kindly request that you refrain from visiting the site of his alternative military service. Please send your heartfelt messages of support for Wonwoo through Weverse,” the agency said.

It added, “We ask for your continued love and support for the artist until his safe and healthy return. We will also stay committed to providing Wonwoo with all the necessary support during this time.”

Wonwoo debuted as a singer in Seventeen in 2015. He will be discharged from his military service on Jan. 2, 2027.

Last January 18 and 19, Seventeen held their "Right Here" world tour in the Philippines.
