BFP Fire Marshal Supt. Mariano Taguiam said 20 percent from the collected fire code fees will be used for the modernization program of the Pasay Fire Stations and in the acquisition of new fire trucks.
Taguiam said the collection came from their campaign of fire safety inspections of all business establishments in the city.
He said a total of 15, 002 public and private establishments around the city were inspected to determine whether they are following the fire safety code.
The fire marshal added that they have recorded 41 fire incidents and 19 were all fire out upon the arrival of firefighters. He said this showed the readiness of city residents to deal with fire incidents through their use of household firefighting equipment such as fire extinguishers.
Taguiam also added that another factor is the immediate response of Community Fire Auxiliary Group (CFAG) and the fire volunteer organization from different barangays in the city.
