The EDSA bus carousel will remain operational as the metropolis' major thoroughfare undergoes rehabilitation, Malacañang assured commuters.

In an interview with GMA Integrated News on Thursday morning, March 6, Palace Press Officer and Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro said the EDSA Busway will continue to operate.
"Ang mangyayari lang po ay aayusin kung paanong hindi ito makaka-cause ng traffic (What will happen is that it will be fixed in a way that it doesn’t cause traffic)," she said.
"Pero tuloy-tuloy pa rin po 'yan, hindi po 'yan ihihinto para sa ating mga commuters (But it will continue operating. It will not be stopped for the benefit of our commuters)," she added.
The EDSA Busway is reserved for buses, vehicles carrying the top five government officials, and vehicles responding to emergencies. It runs from the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) to Monumento in Caloocan City.
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has said that the EDSA bus carousel would be relocated to its adjacent lane. They will return once the closed segments from the first lane are fully rehabilitated.
The rehabilitation works are reportedly part of the preparations for the country's hosting of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit next year.
The DPWH assured the public that the agency was "actively preparing" to implement the rehabilitation works by segments, one lane at a time, starting from the EDSA bus lane.
One segment of the rehabilitation will start by the end of March. It will cover the northbound portion from the Quezon City/Caloocan boundary to Monumento.
The entire rehabilitation is expected to be completed within two years.
