The Malabon City government encouraged property owners with unpaid real estate taxes to take advantage of its newly implemented tax amnesty program which aims to ease financial burdens while boosting local revenue collection.

According to the city’s Public Information Office (PIO), Ordinance No. 02-2025 provides significant reductions in penalties, interest, and surcharges on overdue real property taxes.

The initiative is designed to encourage delinquent taxpayers to settle their obligations without the heavy financial strain of accumulated penalties.

Mayor Jeannie Sandoval highlighted the program’s benefits, emphasizing that it not only helps individual taxpayers but also contributes to the city’s overall economic growth.

"Ang programang ito ay isang malaking tulong para sa ating mga mamamayan upang makabayad ng buwis nang mas magaan. Sa ganitong paraan, natutulungan natin silang maibsan ang kanilang pasanin habang pinapalakas din natin ang ekonomiya ng lungsod (This program is a great help for our citizens, allowing them to pay taxes more easily. In this way, we help ease their burden while also strengthening the city's economy),” she said.

Under the tax amnesty program, those who settle their real property tax dues in full by March 2025 will receive a 100 percent waiver on penalties, interest, and surcharges. 

Taxpayers who pay in April, May, or June 2025 will get an 80 percent reduction, while those paying in the third quarter (July to September) will receive a 60 percent reduction.

A 40 percent reduction will be applied to payments made in the fourth quarter (October to December).

Meanwhile, for those opting for installment payments, a 40 percent reduction on outstanding interest, penalties, and surcharges will be granted. 

However, the amnesty does not cover properties that have already been auctioned or are involved in ongoing legal disputes over tax obligations.

To apply, property owners must visit the City Assessment Department at Malabon City Hall and submit the required documents, including their Real Property Tax Order of Payment (RPTOP) and Statement of Account.

City Administrator Dr. Alexander Rosete assured residents that the local government remains committed to programs that benefit both taxpayers and Malabon’s long-term development.

"Patuloy nating isusulong ang mga inisyatiba na nagbibigay ng patas na oportunidad sa bawat Malabueno. Sa amnestiyang ito, hindi lamang natin binibigyang ginhawa ang ating mga kababayan, kundi tinutulungan din nating mapanatili ang kaayusan ng ating lungsod (We will continue to promote initiatives that provide equal opportunities for every Malabueno. Through this amnesty, we are not only giving relief to our fellow citizens but also helping maintain order in our city),” he said.
