Las Piñas City's Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) conducted the 4th nationwide fire drill in two malls in the city on March 4 as the city marked the Fire Prevention Month.
The fire drills, headed by Las Piñas BFP Fire Marshall Supt. Josephus Alburo, were conducted at the SM Southmall and SM Center, considered key areas due to their large foot traffic and dense population.
Alburo said the drill was led by an all-female responding team to coincide with the celebration of Women’s Month. He emphasized the critical role of women in public safety and emergency response situations.
He said the fire drills provided valuable insights on evacuation procedures, fire safety awareness, and the effectiveness of emergency systems, to ensure that both personnel and civilians are equipped to handle unforeseen emergencies with confidence and efficiency.
The fire chief added that the event also reinforced the importance of community involvement and the collaborative efforts of various sectors in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of citizens.
