20 La Union LGUs hurdle DILG Good Financial Housekeeping evaluation

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union – The provincial government has commended 20 component local government units for hurdling the 2024 Good Financial Housekeeping evaluation of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).

These LGUs were Agoo, Aringay, Bacnotan, Bagulin, Balaoan, Bangar, Bauang, Burgos, Caba, Luna;

Naguilian, Pugo, Rosario, San Fernando City, San Gabriel, San Juan, Santo Tomas, Santol, Sudipen, and Tubao.

“Once more, we have shown our solid commitment to safeguarding public funds and ensuring their judicious and legitimate use,” said Gov. Raphaelle Veronica Ortega-David. "When we put the welfare of our people at the front and center of our governance, the imperative for transparency and accountability comes as commitment for us, not a compliance.”

The provincial government has consistently passed the GFH for 15 years since 2011.

The DILG said that 126 out of 129 LGUs in Region 1 passed the assessment.

The award is given to LGUs that comply with accounting and auditing standards, rules, and regulations.

This includes obtaining either an Unqualified or Qualified Commission on Audit (COA) Opinion for the immediately preceding year as well as full compliance with the Full Disclosure Policy on local budget and finances, bids, and public offerings.
