The PRO-7 said that from January to February, 418 focus crimes were recorded in Central Visayas, 208 fewer compared to the same period last year.

The decrease was a result of proactive policing strategies and the active participation of the community, said Police Brig. Gen.  Redrico Maranan, PRO-7 chief.

Maranan said police in Central Visayas have implemented programs for peace and order that focus on cooperation with the community.

“This notable decrease in crime reflects the power of collaboration between law enforcement and the public, symbolizing our joint commitment to enhancing the quality of life in the Central Visayas region,” said Maranan.

Intensified checkpoint operations, increased police visibility, and regular patrols contributed to the decrease of crime incidents in the region, Maranan said.

Maranan added that this year’s crime solution efficiency went up to 90.98 percent from last year’s 89.28 percent.

He commended investigators for ensuring that crimes are immediately solved and prevented from happening.

Maranan appealed to the public to continue participating in the anti-criminality campaign in the region.
