The Pasay City government announced the suspension of classes in all levels in public and private schools in the city on March 5 to 6 upon the recommendation of the Pasay City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PCDRRMO.
Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano said the PCDDRO recommendation was made due to the high index forecast of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA)
Rubiano said the heat index is expected to reach the yellow-orange alert category which calls for “extreme caution.”
She advised all schools to shift to asynchronous or blended learning.
The mayor advised residents to just stay home if they don’t have any important matters to attend to outside of their residences.
Rubiano also advised residents to stay hydrated.
