'Just and fair': Erwin Tulfo hails Comelec's junking of disqualification case

A just and fair decision.

That's how administration senatorial bet ACT-CIS Party-list Rep. Erwin Tulfo described the Commission on Elections' (Comelec) decision to junk the disqualification case filed against his candidacy in the May 12 elections.

"Una, nais ko pong magpasalamat sa Poong Maykapal. Taos-puso rin akong nagpapasalamat sa 1st Division ng [Comelec] para sa makatarungan at patas na desisyon nito sa petisyon para ma-disqualify ako," Tulfo said in a statement.

(First, I want to thank God Almighty. My heartfelt thanks also to the 1st Division of Comelec for its just and fair decision on the petition for my disqualification.)

"Ang pagkaka-dismiss ng kaso dahil sa hindi pagsunod ng petitioner sa mga kinakailangang rekisito ng Comelec ay patunay ng integridad ng ating halalan at ng kahalagahan ng pagsunod sa tamang proseso," said the House deputy majority leader for communications.

(The Comelec's dismissal of the case due to the petitioner's non-compliance of the requirements proves the integrity of our elections and the importance of following the correct process.)

Tulfo--who has fared extremely well in pre-election surveys--is a part of Alyansa para sa Bagong Pilipinas senatorial ticket.

"Buong tiwala akong naninindigan sa kalayaan at pagiging patas ng Comelec. Ang desisyong ito ay nagpapatunay sa matibay na paninindigan ng Komisyon sa katarungan at a pagpapanatili ng kredibilidad ng ating demokratikong institusyon," he said.

(I fully trust Comelec’s independence and fairness. This decision further proves the Commission's strong commitment to justice and to keeping our democratic institutions credible.)

Tulfo added: "Ang desisyong ito ay nagbibigay-daan upang lalo kong maituon ang aking oras at pagsisikap sa paglilingkod sa ating mga kababayan at sa pagsusulong ng kanilang kapakanan sa Kongreso."

(This decision paves the way for me to further invest my time and efforts into serving our countrymen and pursuing their welfare in Congress.)
