Zsae de Guzman, BOC-Zamboanga port collector, said ML Dino Saja was manned by Moamar Hadjirul, a resident of Tawi-Tawi, and had six crew.
De Guzman said the boat was spotted at AMR private wharf by the BOC-Water Patrol Division patrolling against illegal smuggling activities. The BOC asked the boat captain to produce pertinent documents but failed.
The BOC seized the vessel and fuel and they are under the custody of the Water Patrol Division at the Recodo Station.
De Guzman ordered the Customs police to issue a Warrant, Seizure, and Detention (WSD) order to the owner of the vessel for a complete inventory of the contraband.
Meanwhile, 89 gallons of diesel valued at P100,000 were recovered by the Lamitan Police Station in a truck in Sitio Little Cebu, Barangay Maganda, Lamitan City, Basilan, on Saturday.
Lamitan police chief Police Lt. Col. Elmer Solon identified the suspected owner of the contraband as Engelbert Ituralde Ulang, 36, a resident of Sitio Sayugan, Barangay Maganda.
Solon said the driver of the truck escaped.
The recovered fuel was placed under the custody of the Lamitan Police Station for turnover to the BOC.
