Acuzar urges Pinoys to do their share in Pasig River rehab project
Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar urged the public to do their share in the rehabilitation of Pasig River amid the ongoing projects to transform the areas near them into business and tourism hubs.

Acuzar said the political will of President Marcos and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos that led to initial transformation of a portion of the Pasig River bank near the Intramuros into a tourist spot must be reinforced by strong public support.
He is referring to the redeveloped showcase area spanning 1.1 kilometer open public space --from the back of the iconic Manila Central Post Office to the world-renowned Intramuros wall and down to the historic Fort Santiago.
“This is now being enjoyed for free by people from all walks of life. It has become an instant favorite for locals and tourists alike,” said Acuzar.
The project is under the Pasig Bigyang Buhay Muli Project and is being implemented by the Inter-Agency Council for the Pasig Urban Development (IAC-PRUD) headed by DHSUD under the Executive Order 35.
The goal, according to Acuzar, is to bring back the glory and prestige of Pasig River, with functional and sustainable urban redevelopment.
“The project has established a new heritage corridor that preserves culture and history while embracing future progress and development,” said Acuzar.
Last week, President Marcos and the First lady inaugurated the Phase 3 of the project—which reconnected Plaza Mexico to Maestranza esplanade leading to the Fort Santiago riverfront.
The newly-opened phase now provides an additional 2,000 square meters of open public space for all.
