50% crime drop recorded in Metro East in one week -- EPD
A 50 percent drop in crime incidents in just one week was recorded in the eastern part of Metro Manila, according to Eastern Police District (EPD) acting district director Col. Villamor Tuliao.
From Feb. 22 to 28 this year, the EPD registered six crime incidents, or a 50 percent decrease compared to the 12 incidents from Feb. 15 to 21.
Tuliao said this improvement was a result of the string of successful anti-crime operations launched by the EPD. He also attributed it to the “AAA” motto (Able, Active, and Allied) of the members of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO).
The EPD also intensified its campaign against wanted criminals which resulted in the apprehension of 59 suspects, including four most wanted persons.
Meanwhile, 37 individuals were nabbed during the EPD's anti-drugs operations, together with the confiscation of 161.08 grams of shabu and other drug paraphernalia worth P1,095,344.
“Sa pagtatapos ng buwan ng Pebrero ngayong taon ay tiniyak ng mga kapulisan ng EPD na gampanan ang tungkulin na ipatupad ang batas at huhulihin ang mga nagkasala dito (By the end of February, the EPD made sure that its personnel performed their sworn duties to implement the law and arrest violators.)," Tuliao said.
“Sa mga susunod pang araw, linggo at buwan ay sinisigurado namin na lulupiin namin ang ilegal na droga at mga nagtatagong kriminal sa ilalim ng batas, alinsunod na din sa PNP Police Operational Procedure at igagalang ang mga karapatang pantao (In the next days, weeks, and months, we will make sure that we will seize illegal drugs and hunt down those who are evading the law under the PNP Police Operational Procedure and will respect human rights.)," he added.
