In a statement, the Vice President acknowledged the importance of Eid al-Fitr in reminding every one of the goodness of Allah, but of the lessons of the Holy Qur'an to unite and share one’s blessings with those in need.

Ipinagbubunyi natin ang pagtatapos ng banal na buwan ng Ramadan—isang panahon ng pananampalataya, pagsasakripisyo, at pagninilay (I am one with our Muslim brothers and sisters in celebrating the Eid al-Fitr. We are commemorating the end of the holy month of Ramadan—a time for prayers, sacrifices, and reflection),” Duterte said.

The Vice President, who has been staying in The Hague since former president Rodrigo Duterte’s arrest last March 11, sent her prayers for the Muslim community.

We wish that the Eid will bring peace to your hearts, light in your spirit, and endless joy to your homes),” she said.

May your prayers be heard, your sacrifices rewarded, and your lives be granted with love and prosperity),” she added.

The Eid al-Fitr marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan, and is celebrated with special prayers to Allah and food to share among the Muslim community.
