CEBU CITY – A fisherman died when a pump boat carrying him and colleagues was struck by lightning in the sea of Bogo City, northern Cebu province on Sunday afternoon, March 30.

Ronilo Galecia Balunan, a resident of Barangay Nailon, Bogo, suffered severe burns, said Police Capt. Amory Piedra Napoles, deputy station commander of the Bogo City Police Station.
Currently being treated for burn injuries at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center here were Eugene Olidiana Bolambao and Jeremias Jalang Balunan.
Police said they were among the 10 fishermen aboard a fishing boat headed to Albuera, Leyte.
Lightning struck the boat at around 2:30 p.m. while sailing. Three fishermen were severely hit and instantly passed out.
Their colleagues sustained minor burns.
Abel Anoba Antigua, the boat skipper, decided to return to Bogo.
The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office brought the victims to the hospital.
Ronilo was declared dead by Dr. Mae Angelica Sumayang at 6:09 p.m.
