“We are going to know the final plan by the middle of April,” said Dennis Ausan, regional director of the Commission on Elections-6.

Ausan is chairman of the inter-agency group Regional Joint Peace and Security Coordinating Center-6, which also consists of the Police Regional Office-6, the 3rd Infantry Division of the Philippine Army, and the Philippine Coast Guard-6.

“We are still finalizing the number of deployment of security personnel,” Ausan said in an interview on Monday, March 31.

Ausan said the security plan is for the final weeks prior to the elections in the region comprised of Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, and Iloilo provinces as well as the regional capital of Iloilo City.

“We also have security plans for the distribution of election paraphernalia,” said Ausan.

The RJPSCC-6 is also  looking into security plans for far-flung areas, including island and mountain barangays.

The province of Negros Occidental is not included anymore in RJPSCC-6 with the recent reactivation of the police headquarters for Negros Island Region.
