Though the Fighting Maroons notched their second straight win, Bocboc still seeks improvement from his stalwarts.

“Medyo magulo yung galaw ng team ngayon. Maraming errors yung kalaban kaya nagkataon na we got the game,” said Bocboc.

“Pero sa amin, kulang, so siguro medyo shaky pa nung umpisa pero darating yung time, kasi second round na eh. Hindi na pwede yung ganun na shaky,” he added.

Bocboc anticipates tougher matches ahead in the second round with last year’s semifinalists National University, De La Salle, Far Eastern University and University of Santo Tomas currently in the Top 4. UP is at fifth with 5-5, just half a game behind the Tigresses.

“Maraming inconsistensies; sa pasa, sa setting, sa lahat. So hopefully next game, mas ma-organisa pa namin,” Bocboc said.

“Panalo is panalo. The error is marami. Hindi lang kami, yung kalaban mismo yung tumulong para manalo,” he added, referring to their 21 errors similar to what the Lady Warriors have also committed.

Irah Jaboneta and Joan Monares led the squad with 15 and 13 points, while Nina Ytang had a quiet seven points after a career-high 30 points in their five-set upset triumph over NU.

“Coming from a win, di na pwedeng mag-relax kasi second round na to. Mas challenging every game,” Jaboneta said.
