4 rescued after banca sinks in Quezon

MAUBAN, Quezon – A 23-year-old laborer drowned and four individuals were rescued after their banca sank in Barangay Santa Lucia here on Sunday, March 30.

The victim was identified as Jericho Agnasin.

Rescued were Merwill, 28; Angelie, 26, and her twin children Adreil and Avriel.

Bantay Dagat members were patrolling when they saw the capsized banca that came from Barangay Santo Niño here.

Merwill and Angelie saved the twins and swam until they reached the shallow part of the sea.

Agnasin was hit by the heavy waves and carried away to the deep part of the sea.

His body was found in the sea of Barangay Rosario.

Agnasin was taken to a hospital in Mauban, Quezon where he was declared dead. The four survivors were also brought to a hospital in Mauban.

Laborer stabbed dead

ALAMINOS, Laguna – A 25-year-old construction worker was stabbed to death by a co-worker in Barangay San Benito, this town, on Sunday.

Police identified the victim as Jose Canillas.

Investigation said the victim and the suspect Domingo were having a drinking session in a construction site when a heated argument erupted.

Domingo stabbed Canillas with a knife multiple times and fled. Canillas was taken to the San Pablo City District Hospital in San Pablo City, Laguna, where he was declared dead.

The suspect fled and was arrested by the police in a pursuit.
