National Artist for Music Ryan Cayabyab announced that he and his wife Emmy have safely returned to the Philippines after surviving a recent earthquake in Thailand.

Ryan shared on Instagram that he and his wife were inside a building when the earthquake struck.

"We were exiting a building after lunch and suddenly people were pushing us and sobrang nagtataka kami ni misis…Maya maya lang ang dami nang tao sa daan! Anak ng pu***. Lindol ba ito!? Ang lakas. (We were exiting a building after lunch, and suddenly people were pushing us, and my wife and I were so surprised…There were already a lot of people on the road! Son of a b*tch. Is this an earthquake!? It was so strong)," Ryan wrote in the caption.

Ryan mentioned that they couldn't get into their hotel immediately, and even after they did, it took them a while to reach their room due to the long line at the elevator.

"We hurriedly put our stuff inside the maletas. Wala nang ayus-ayus. Ang bilis namin makalabas ng kuwarto. Takbo ulit sa elevator baka mahaba na naman ang hintay. Nakababa rin sa lobby. (We hurriedly put our stuff inside the luggage. There was nothing to arrange. We quickly left the room. We ran to the elevator again; maybe the wait would be long again. We also went down to the lobby)," he continued.

Just when they thought the struggle was over, Ryan continued the story by posting another photo and sharing that they tried to arrive for their flight on the same day. But due to the incident, they had a hard time looking for a car to take them to the airport.

"We waited [four] hours for our [transport] to bring us to the airport. Wala! Still, we decided to just get to the airport and think of what to do next—for sure, we will miss our flight,” he said at the time.

"Thinking back, if there was no earthquake, we’d be in the airport, kanina pa. The MRT stopped operations, and all Grab and other transport to the airport were not at work kasi all of them were stuck in traffic. (Thinking back, if there had been no earthquake, we'd be in the airport a while ago. The MRT stopped operations, and all Grab and other transport to the airport were not at work because all of them were stuck in traffic)," Ryan said.

“We had a huddle to decide if we wanted to book a room sa hotel to stay for the night? I said no. I want to be at the airport. Doon na lang kami maghintay. Besides… ayoko sa 26th floor matulog at baka meron pang earthquake. (We had a huddle to decide if we wanted to book a room in the hotel for the night. I said no. I want to be at the airport. We'll wait there. Besides… I don't want to sleep on the 26th floor, and there might be an earthquake.)

After a long time of trying to book a taxi to take them to the airport, Ryan and his companions eventually got one and continued their way. In a succeeding post, Cayabyab shared that he is now in Quezon City. “Good morning QC! Lunch beckons. After we survived this yesterday,” he said.
