A total of 80 former communist rebels signed the oath of allegiance to abandon armed struggle in a ceremony in Aurora province, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) said.

In a statement, the DILG said the signing of the allegiance in Barangay Ipil in Dipaculao town was highlighted by the burning of flags of the CPP-NPA-NDF took place, demonstrating the former rebels’ rejection of the communist terrorist’s group (CTG’s) ideology.

DILG Aurora Provincial Director Ener Cambronero said the signing of the allegiance was held in Barangay Ipil in Dipaculao town and proved the government’s commitment to reintegration and peacebuilding efforts.

“The activity underscored the government’s dedication to resolving armed conflict through inclusive governance and holistic approach,’’ the DILG noted.

The activity was spearheaded by the 91st Infantry (Sinagtala) Battalion in collaboration with the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation, and Unity (OPAPRU).
