The turnover was held two months after the first building was handed over to 46 beneficiaries in January.

City officials accompanied the homeowners in viewing their units in Building 2 during the turnover.

Mayor Albee Benitez, in his message to the new homeowners, said that this housing program is more affordable for the people of this city  than renting a home.

“This is really a big thing because this is an investment,” he said.

Benitez said that the city will build a mini-hospital near the area to enable residents to seek immediate healthcare and a skate park and a multi-purpose gymnasium that can be used for events.

“This area will be developed as a township,” the mayor said, adding that transportation access and a market will also be prioritized in the area.

“This will benefit the people of Bacolod for not just a decent and affordable housing, but a world-class township,” Benitez said.

Benitez congratulated the new homeowners for investing in a home for their families.

Councilor Vladimir Gonzales, chairman of the City Council committee on urban poor, housing, and resettlement, lauded  beneficiaries for deciding to invest in housing.

One of the homeowners said that they applied for the housing program because it is near their parents.

A 24-year-old clerk said that she acquired a house in preparation for the future and an investment.

The housing program is part of the 4PH program launched under President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s “Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino.”

Beneficiaries applied with the Pag-IBIG Fund for the housing units each with a minimum area of 24-square meters.
