3 weather systems to bring cloudy, rainy conditions to parts of the Philippines

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Sunday, March 30 that three weather systems—a low-pressure area (LPA), easterlies, and the northeasterly wind flow—will bring cloudy and rainy conditions to various parts of the country over the next 24 hours.

PAGASA weather specialist Obet Badrina said the LPA, located 330 kilometers west of Cuyo, Palawan at 3 a.m. on Sunday, has a slim chance of developing into a tropical cyclone.

However, the weather disturbance is expected to bring cloudy skies, scattered rains, and thunderstorms to Western Visayas and Mimaropa.

Meanwhile, the easterlies, or warm winds from the Pacific Ocean, will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms to Caraga, Davao Region, Eastern Visayas, Bicol Region, and Quezon.

The northeaserly wind flow or weak “amihan” will also bring cloudy and rainy conditions to Batanes and Babuyan Islands.

Badrina warned of the possibility of flash floods or landslides in areas affected by these weather systems, due to moderate to heavy rainfall.

The rest of the country is expected to experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies, with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms in the afternoon or evening brought by the easterlies.

PAGASA urged the public to remain vigilant for possible flash floods or landslides, especially during severe thunderstorms.
