2 dead in Cessna plane crash in Pangasinan

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan â€“ A pilot and student pilot were killed in a plane crash in Barangay Libsong East here on Sunday morning, March 30.

Police Lt. Col. Amor Mio Somine, Lingayen police chief, said the two-seat Cessna plane had just taken off from the airport and was making a U-turn on air when it suddenly crashed.

Authorities have yet to identify the victims as their families are still being informed of the incident.

The victims were taken to the Lingayen District Hospital. A report said the student pilot is from San Ildefonso, Bulacan.

Local first responders, including the aircraft owner, are onsite investigating the crash.

Mayor Leopoldo Bataoil here ordered Somine to invite all flying schools in this town for a meeting with the local government at 2 p.m. today to discuss the incident.

No casualties were reported on the ground. The cause of the incident is still under investigation.
