Antipolo City Mayor Jun Ynares said the suspect, identified by authorities as "Kenneth," 28, was immediately arrested in a checkpoint operation.

Before the incident, a video showed the suspect and another man wearing a helmet engaged in a fight while others attempted to intervene. Suddenly, the suspect drew a gun and fired multiple times, causing the man to collapse to the ground.

In another video uploaded online, the victim, who was wearing a helmet, was seen with another rider as they appeared to gang up on the suspect, throwing punches at him before the shooting occurred.

“Nahuli ang suspect na nambaril ng kanyang nakaalitan sa daan. Sa dami ng beses niya pinaputok ang kanyang baril, pati misis niya ay kanyang tinamaan (The suspect who shot his opponent during a road altercation has been arrested. He fired his gun multiple times, accidentally hitting his own wife),” Ynares said.

Ynares added that the victims were taken to the hospital, while the suspect is now in police custody.

"Dinala sa hospital ang mga sugatan kasama ang kanyang may bahay (The injured, including the suspect's wife, were taken to the hospital)," he said.

Antipolo City Police chief Lt. Col. Ryan Manongdo later clarified that one of the victims remains in critical condition, correcting earlier reports that claimed someone had died.

Meanwhile, the mayor reminded motorists to stay calm on the road.

“Lamig ng ulo sa daan ang kailangan. Drive safely, Antipolo. Hindi mahalaga kung sino ang tama at sino ang mali. Keep your cool all the time. It's not worth it. Ipaubaya po sa Diyos ang lahat (Stay calm on the road. Drive safely, Antipolo. It doesn’t matter who’s right or wrong, keep your cool at all times. It’s not worth it. Leave everything to God),” he said.
