Jojo's journey is often described as a "rags to riches" story, beginning in the modest surroundings of Lucena City.
Throughout his childhood, he worked alongside his mother, meticulously weaving dried buri leaves and counting "buri midrib" to help support their family. It was a simple life marked by hard work and dedication.
At 10, Jojo took a significant step toward his dreams by participating in a local singing competition in Pitogo, Quezon. He performed the song "Mr. DJ" but unfortunately did not win the contest.
Nevertheless, his undeniable charm won over the judges, who graciously awarded him a consolation prize, recognizing his potential.
During these formative years, Jojo idolized iconic singers like Sharon Cuneta and Pops Fernandez, who inspired him to pursue a career in music.
As he entered his 20s, Jojo made a pivotal decision to enroll at the prestigious School of Music founded by Ryan Cayabyab, a renowned figure in the Philippine music industry.
There, Jojo shared classes with fellow aspiring artists, including notable names like Jolina Magdangal, Roselle Nava, Lindsay Custodio, Angelika Dela Cruz, and Jan Marini, creating an enriching and competitive environment.
Jojo’s foray into music production began with his first remake of the beloved Apo Hiking Society's classic "Tuyo Na'ng Damdamin," skillfully arranged by Alvin Nunez.
This was just the beginning—he went on to release renditions of hits such as Jireh Lim's "Magkabilang Mundo," Florante's "Sana," and the iconic ballad "Handog."
His rendition of "Handog" was particularly celebrated, earning him the PMPC Star Awards for Music's Revival Song of the Year in 2018.
Culminating in a significant milestone in his career, Jojo held his first major solo concert, which was a remarkable "sold-out" event at The Newport Performing Arts Theater in 2018. This concert not only showcased his talent but also solidified his status as a rising star in the music industry.
