An ash emission from the summit crater of Kanlaon Volcano was recorded in the early hours of Saturday, March 29, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.

In a time-lapse video released by the agency, the activity occurred between 3:16 a.m. and 4:42 a.m.

The ash plume reached up to 500 meters above the crater and was captured by a thermal camera at the Lower Masulog (VKLM) observation station in Canlaon City.

Phivolcs stated that Alert Level 3 remains in effect over Kanlaon Volcano, indicating relatively high volcanic unrest and the possibility of further eruptions.

Communities surrounding the volcano are advised to remain vigilant.

Entry into the four-kilometer Permanent Danger Zone (PDZ), according to the agency, is strictly prohibited due to the risk of sudden explosions, rockfalls, and landslides.
