Scattered rains continue in Bicol, eastern VisMin due to LPA

Although the low-pressure area (LPA) east of Mindanao has a low chance of developing into a tropical cyclone, it will continue to bring scattered rains to some parts of Bicol, Eastern Visayas, and eastern Mindanao, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Friday, March 28.

PAGASA weather specialist Obet Badrina said the LPA, located 95 kilometers east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur, is expected to bring cloudy skies, scattered rains, and thunderstorms to Caraga, Eastern Visayas, Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate, and Catanduanes.

He said the LPA will likely dissipate by the weekend.

Residents affected by the LPA are advised to stay alert as moderate to heavy rainfall may trigger flash floods or landslides.

Meanwhile, the rest of the country will generally be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the easterlies, or warm winds from the Pacific Ocean.

PAGASA also advised the public to remain vigilant for possible flash floods or landslides, particularly during severe thunderstorms.
