After a nip-and-tuck affair in the first three quarters, the Sonicboom turned on the jets in the final period and unleashed a 19-2 run to make it 90-74 and completely leave the Skygunners behind.
Suwon’s Cagulangan made the most out of his 13-minute play, listing nine points and three assists, while Quiambao had to bleed for his points after chipping in 12 points on 3-of-10 shooting for Goyang.
It marked the third time that the two former UAAP stars battled in the Korean league where Cagulangan and the Sonicboom prevailed in their previous showdowns.
Veteran Heo Hoon and Rayshaun Hammonds finished with 25 and 19 points, respectively, to help the Suwon improved its record to 30-19 at third.
On the other hand, Quiambao, the two-time UAAP MVP, also registered one rebound, two assists and one steal while Lee Jong-Hyun (25) and Alan Williams (16) topped the Skygunners’ scoring sheet.
Goyang suffered its second straight loss to settle for a 16-33 slate at ninth.
Meanwhile, Fil-American Ethan Alvano and the Wonju DB Promy lost their momentum in the second half and bowed, 71-62, to the Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus.
Alvano had eight points, four rebounds, and two assists while former Golden State big man Omari Spellman poured in 23 points and 12 rebounds in a losing cause.
With its loss, Wonju dropped to seventh place as it sustained its 28th defeat against 21 wins while Ulsan boosted its record to 29-20 to remain at fourth.
