“Grabe nga abuse ila ba. Ang pag klase, importante sa mga kabataan. Pero sa mga politico, untaton lang. Sobra naman ina!  (What an abuse! Classe are important to the children. But for politicians, they’ll just cancel it. Enough is enough!)” said Ronie J.

Treñas issued Executive Order No. 026, Series of 2025, suspending classes on all levels beginning 12 noon on March 28.

The mayor’s executive order did not specify but noted there will be “volume of participants expected to attend certain events and the closure of major routes.”

Treñas will lead the political rally of Team Uswag at the Iloilo Freedom Grandstand near the Iloilo City Hall.  The mayor’s daughter Raisa is the mayoral candidate.

Retired Police Col. Uldarico Garbanzos, chief of the Iloilo City Transportation and Traffic Management Office, said around 35,000 supporters of Team Uswag are expected to attend the  afternoon and evening rally.

“Puwede man sa Sabado. Pang halit guid obra nyo sa tawo (It could be done on Saturday.  This has a negative impact to the people),” noted Louine M.

This is not the first time Treñas suspended claases for political reasons.

He cancelled classes during the Feb. 13 rally of the administration Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas candidates and the Jan. 13 peace rally of the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC).
