Senatorial candidate Camille Villar joined the culminating event of the 2025 National Women’s Month Celebration in Baybay City on Wednesday, where she called for a more inclusive society and stronger support for gender equality.

Addressing a crowd of local leaders, community members, and women’s groups in Baybay City in Leyte on Thursday, March 27, Villar emphasized the vital role of women in both family life and public service.
“Hindi lang tayo ilaw ng tahanan,” she said. “Tayo rin ang ilaw ng ating mga siyudad. Kasama po tayo sa pag-unlad ng ating mga komunidad.”
She acknowledged the contributions of Baybay’s local leaders, including Philippine Councilors League Chapter President Carmen Cari, Mayor Boy Cari, Vice Mayor Ernesto Butawan, and Rep. Carl Nicolas Cari, thanking them for the opportunity to celebrate Women’s Month in their city.
Villar stressed the importance of supporting women in leadership and urged more women to take active roles in governance despite the many hats they wear at home and at work.
“One month is not enough to celebrate what women can do,” she added, highlighting the power of women to drive change not just within households but across provinces and sectors.
If elected to the Senate this May, Villar vowed to push forward key legislative measures centered on women’s rights and welfare. These include the re-filing of the Pregnant Women Welfare Act and the Equal Maternity Protection Act, both aimed at improving healthcare and labor protection for Filipino mothers.
The event in Baybay served as a platform for Villar to champion her long-standing advocacy for women’s empowerment, as she continues to build momentum in the run-up to the national elections.
