BACOLOD CITY – Police said three farmers have been killed in separate shooting incidents in Calatrava, Negros Occidental since Tuesday, March 25.

Police Major Wilfredo Benoman Jr., Calatrava police chief, said the first incident was reported in Barangay Minapasuk on Tuesday.
The victim, 41-year-old Cy, was shot in front of his live-in partner by three unidentified men who forcibly entered their house.
Benoman said that the suspects wanted the victim to go with them to Sitio Yamingon, Barangay Minapasuk. The victim refused and the suspects ransacked the victim’s house and shot him.
Benoman said the victim allegedly raped his three stepdaughters and a case was being prepared against him. Police are probing if the case is related to his death.
On Wednesday, 39-year-old Boy was shot dead by an unidentified man in his farm in Barangay Telim.
The victim sustained bullet wounds in the chest and died on the spot. Recovered from the crime scene were four fired .45 caliber cartridge cases.
Benoman said the victim was arrested for a drug offense.
On Thursday, 34-year-old Nilo was found dead by a passerby lying on the ground in Barangay Malatas with multiple bullet wounds.
Benoman said that the victim was seen by some residents with a companion before gunshots rang out.
Police are looking into grudges as a possible motive in Nilo's murder.
Four shooting incidents have been recorded here as of March 28. The first involved a 64-year-old former barangay captain in Barangay Patun-an on March 18.
Lawmen are conducting follow-up investigations.
