Police Brig. Gen. Jean S. Fajardo, Police Regional Office-3 chief, identified the suspect as Edrian T. Rementilla.
Fajardo said Rementilla, alias Ryan Rementilla and Oliver Fuentes, was arrested on Saturday night, March 22, in Purok 16, Buhanginan Hills, Pala-o, Iligan City.
The suspect, apprehended by the PRO-3 and 10 Regional Special Operations Units in coordination with the Iligan City Police Office, was arrested on a warrant issued by the Manila Regional Trial Court Branch 7 with no bail recommended.
Fajardo said Rementilla had been constantly transferring to different locations to avoid arrest.
She said persistent intelligence efforts and coordination among law enforcement agencies led to his arrest.
Fajardo lauded the successful operation and said justice will always catch up with those who attempt to escape it.
"You can run, but you can never truly hide. This arrest proves that no matter how long it takes, justice will always prevail. Let this be a strong message to all criminals: There is no escape. The law will find you, no matter where you hide."
Rementilla was transported to the PRO-3 for the return of his warrant to the court of origin.
The arrest of Rementilla brings the case of Sytin’s murder closer to full resolution, police said.
