The event kicked off with a grand float parade, featuring 20 intricately designed floats showcasing Malabon’s rich history, culture, and traditions.

The festival serves as a prelude to the city’s 426th Founding Anniversary on May 21 and its 24th Charter Day on April 21.

Mayor Jeannie Sandoval, Rep. Ricky Sandoval, city councilors, Ginoong Malabon 2024 Elishua Balinton and Binibining Malabon 2024 Prima Joy Alamban, along with winners of Tambobong Indakan, city government department heads, cultural groups, and marching bands led the colorful parade.

Celebrity guests Kobe Paras and Angeli Khang also participated, serving as the escort and muse for the Mayor and Rep. Sandoval.

The parade route began at Malabon National High School, passed through Gen. Luna Avenue, and concluded at the Malabon Sports Center.

Sandoval said the celebration serves as a reminder of Malabon’s rich history, traditions, and culture.

“Nakasama natin ang mga kandidato ng Ginoo at Binibining Malabon mula sa 21 na barangay sa lungsod. Sila ay mga modelo o ehemplo para sa mga kabataan upang maipakita ang kanilang galing, talino, at talento. Ating ipagmalaki ang ating lungsod at ang ating pagiging Malabueno na may pagkakaisa, kagandahang loob tungo sa tunay na pag-unlad (We were joined by the candidates for Ginoo at Binibining Malabon from the 21 barangays of the city. They serve as role models for the youth, showcasing their skills, intelligence, and talents. Let us take pride in our city and our identity as Malabuños, united and compassionate in our pursuit of genuine progress),” Sandoval added.

Meanwhile, City Administrator Dr. Alexander Rosete emphasized the importance of the festival in recognizing Malabon’s origins as a town with a vibrant culture and deep-rooted traditions.

"Ngayon pa lang ay atin nang sinumulan ang mga aktibidad na bahagi ng ating pagdiriwang ng anibersaryo ng pagkakatatag ng Malabon. Ito ay mahalaga para sa atin bilang Malabueno dahil dito tayo nagsimula bilang isang bayan, isang komunidad nasi may makulay at mayabong na kultura, tradisyon, at paniniwala (Even now, we have already begun the activities as part of our celebration of Malabon’s founding anniversary. This is important to us as Malabuños because it marks the beginning of our journey as a town—a community with a rich and vibrant culture, traditions, and beliefs),” he said.

He also praised the talent and creativity of Malabuños, hoping that the festival would serve as inspiration for continued community service.

“Gayundin ay ating itinatampok ang kakaiba at kamangha-manghang talento ng mga Malabueno. Nawa ay magsilbing inspirasyon ang mga programang ito para sa atin sa ating patuloy na pagsasagawa ng mga serbisyo para sa kapwa Malabueno (We are also showcasing the unique and remarkable talents of the Malabuños. May these programs serve as an inspiration for us as we continue to provide services for our fellow Malabuños),” he added.

The 426th Tambobong Festival is just the beginning of a series of cultural events and activities leading up to Malabon’s milestone celebrations in April and May.
