ILOILO CITY – Gov. Arthur “Toto” Defensor Jr. reiterated the importance of voter’s education among high school students as the country approaches the mid-term elections.

“We want the education system to be a promoter of change for the better,” said Defensor during the last day of the seminar for the Voter Education Instructional Modules (VEIM) on Wednesday, March 26.
The VEIM is a project of the provincial government of Iloilo under the Defensor administration to integrate voters’ education in basic education curriculum for high school students across the province.
The modules were created in collaboration with the Department of Education-Iloilo Schools Division and the University of the Philippines-Visayas.
Defensor told teachers of Araling Panlipunan subjects that it is not only a voters’ education program but also a program that creates better democracy.
Under the Eskwela sang Probinsya (BESProbins) program, the March 24 to 26 seminar was an intensive training for 100 teachers across 42 towns and the component city of Passi.
Teachers were also given copies of the VEIM that could be used in their schools.
