Container truck hits, runs over woman in Pasig
A 62-year-old woman died on the spot after she was hit by a container truck while crossing C. Raymundo Avenue in Barangay Maybunga, Pasig City on Monday afternoon, March 24. According to the authorities, the elderly woman was crossing the street on her way to a nearby hospital when the traffic light suddenly turned red. The driver of the truck did not see the victim in front of the vehicle and hit her, pinning her beneath the wheels of the truck. Police officers immediately responded to the incident together with medical personnel from the barangay. They declared the senior citizen dead on the spot. Officials added that the victim was not a resident of the barangay and was only there for a check-up consultation at the hospital on the opposite side of the road. The 41-year-old truck driver is currently under the custody of the Pasig City Police. The police said the driver tried to offer a settlement with the victim's family. However, they refused it and proceeded to file charges against the driver. He is now facing charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide. (Patrick Garcia)
Murder rap filed vs QC road rage suspect
A murder case has been filed against the police officer who allegedly shot to death a driver in a road rage incident in Tandang Sora, Quezon City, on March 20. Criminal Investigation Unit (CIDU) Chief Maj. Don Don Llapitan identified the suspect as PEMS Randy Enano Tuzon, 48, a resident of Barangay Kaligayahan, Quezon City. The suspect has been charged with murder; frustrated murder; and violation of R.A. 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act and B.P. 881 or Omnibus Election Code pursuant to COMELEC Resolution No. 11067 on March 22. The victims were identified as Ronnie Casero Borromeo, 42, and Reynaldo Hagos, 51. Based on the forensic examination, Borromeo sustained multiple gunshot wounds in various parts of his body, while Hagos suffered injuries on his left hip and thigh. Authorities recovered seven spent bullet shells and one fired bullet at the crime scene. (Allysa Nievera)
Bullying triggers stabbing in Parañaque City
A child in conflict with the law (CICL) who was bullied in school stabbed to death his female classmate in Parañaque City on Wednesday, March 26. The Southern Police District (SPD) identified the suspect as alias “CPBB”, 15, a student. The victim was identified as alias “RLS,” 14, also a student. She suffered severe stab wounds and was pronounced dead on arrival at the Ospital ng Parañaque 2. Police investigation showed that CPBB was bullied by RLS that triggered him to pull out a kitchen knife and stab the victim. The suspect was immediately arrested by barangay watchmen after the incident and was brought to the Parañaque City Police's Don Bosco Substation for further investigation. (Jean Fernando)
Woman busted in Rizal buy-bust
A 27-year-old woman was arrested in a drug buy-bust operation conducted by the Antipolo City Police in Barangay San Jose, Antipolo, Rizal on Tuesday, March 25, the Rizal Police Provincial Office (Rizal PPO) said. The Antipolo Component City Police - City Drug Enforcement Team and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) identified the suspect as "Nene." The suspect yielded 10 grams of shabu worth P68,000 during the operation as well as other drug paraphernalia. She is currently under the custody of the Antipolo CMPS and is facing charges for violation of Republic 9165 (The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002). (Vincent Brian Gutierrez)
