LPA to bring scattered rains across parts of Visayas, Mindanao — PAGASA

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Wednesday, March 26 said a low-pressure area (LPA) located east of Mindanao will bring scattered rains and thunderstorms to various parts of Visayas and Mindanao.

PAGASA weather specialist Rhea Torres said that while the LPA is not expected to develop into a tropical cyclone, it will continue to cause rain and thunderstorms over the next few days as it moves closer to land.

As of Wednesday morning, the LPA was estimated 645 kilometers east of southeastern Mindanao.

Over the next 24 hours, the LPA will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms to Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Caraga, Davao Region, and Siquijor.

Meanwhile, Torres said the easterlies, or warm winds from the Pacific Ocean, will continue to bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies and warm conditions, particularly around midday.

She added that thunderstorms are expected to become more frequent in the afternoon or evening.

The public is advised to stay alert as severe thunderstorms could lead to flash floods or landslides, especially in areas prone to these hazards.
