Illegal gunsmith apprehended

CEBU CITY – A 60-year-old man was arrested past midnight on Wednesday, March 26, for allegedly manufacturing unlicensed guns in Danao City, northern Cebu province. 

Police said the suspect, a certain Agapito, was tagged by neighbors in Barangay Cahumayan as an illegal gunmaker.

Seized from him were a fully finished .45 caliber pistol, an unfinished .45 caliber pistol, gun parts, magazines, and gun-making paraphernalia.

Police Capt. Dunn Blane Tabares, information officer of the Cebu Provincial Police Office, said the suspect’s illegal activities were reported through a phone call to the Danao City Police Station.

Police said charges for violation of Republic Act 10591 and election gun ban will be filed against the suspect.
