DPWH: CALAX Cavite segment on track for completion by 2025

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is accelerating the construction of the Cavite segment of the Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX) to ensure its full completion by the third quarter of 2025.

DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan reported that the 8.64-kilometer Subsection 3, which includes the Governor’s Drive Interchange, has reached 44 percent completion, bringing the overall progress of the 44.58-kilometer expressway to 68 percent.

Once completed, Subsection 3 will be the longest operational stretch of CALAX, linking the Silang Aguinaldo Interchange and further easing travel between Cavite and Laguna.

Bonoan said right-of-way acquisition for the Laguna segment has been completed, while the Cavite segment is now at 90.71 percent.

Currently, 17.4 kilometers of CALAX are open to motorists, featuring four interchanges and one toll barrier in Laguna and Cavite.

MPCALA Holdings Inc., the project's developer, reaffirmed its commitment to completing CALAX by 2025, with Subsection 1 at the Kawit Interchange now over 31 percent complete and Subsection 2 at the Open Canal Interchange at 21.9 percent.

Once fully operational, the 45-kilometer expressway will stretch from Mamplasan Rotunda in Laguna to Kawit, Cavite, integrating with major road networks to enhance connectivity between Cavite, Laguna, and Metro Manila.

It will feature eight interchanges, including Laguna Technopark, Laguna Boulevard, Santa Rosa-Tagaytay Road, Silang East, Silang Aguinaldo, Governor’s Drive, Open Canal, and Kawit Interchange.
