In a recent media interview, complainant Sofronio Dulay confirmed his support for the Quimbo camp when asked about his Facebook posts favoring Teodoro’s opponent. He also said that he used to support Teodoro.

“May ginawa siyang masama, kailangan i-correct. Hindi sa pulitika ‘to. [Sa tao na mismo] oo. Basta doon ka sa tama, ‘yun lang yun (He did something wrong, and it needs to be corrected. This isn’t about politics. [It’s about the person himself]—yes. Just stand by what is right, that’s all),” he explained.

When asked if he now supports someone else, Dulay said it would be illogical for him to continue supporting Teodoro after filing a complaint against him.

“Imposible naman na sumuporta pa ako kay Marcy. Dinemanda ko, tapos susuporta ako sa kanya. Illogical (It’s impossible for me to still support Marcy. I filed a case against him. Why would I support him? That’s illogical),” Dulay stated.

“Siyempre doon ako susuporta sa walang kasalanan (Of course, I will support the one who did nothing wrong),” he added.

On his Facebook page, Dulay described Quimbo in one of his posts as someone born and raised in privilege but with a heart for the poor.

He also shared his post across various Marikina-based Facebook pages, including Marikina News, which features content related to Quimbo’s candidacy.

Political persecution

Meanwhile, Teodoro claimed that the six-month suspension imposed by the Ombudsman was a clear case of political persecution.

“I strongly believe that the preventive suspension issued against me is politically motivated and part of a broader effort to derail my candidacy in the May 12, 2025 midterm election. I am a casualty of political persecution, plain and simple,” he said.

“In a desperate attempt to besmirch my name, they’ve filed numerous trumped-up charges against me before the Ombudsman, COA, Comelec, Civil Service, and other government agencies,” he added.

The mayor said it “is clearly part of a pattern of political harassment” against him, questioning its timing just days before the start of the official local campaign period on March 28.

"Kilala tayo ng mga taga-Marikina sa 30 taon kong paglilingkod para gawing maayos at maunlad ang ating lungsod. Hindi nila madaling maloloko ang mga residente rito (The people of Marikina know me for my 30 years of service in making our city orderly and progressive. The residents here are not easily deceived)," Teodoro stressed.

“I urge everybody to remain calm as we will defend not just our name and reputation, but the progress we’ve worked and fought so hard to achieve together. Tuloy ang laban! (The fight continues),” he stated.
