Two men caught stealing gas stoves in Tondo


Two men were arrested after being caught stealing gas stoves in Tondo, Manila on Tuesday morning March 25.

The Manila Police District (MPD) identified the suspects as Jimbo, 19, and Edison, 18.

A 30-year-old complainant reported that the two suspects had stolen the items from his home on Nepa Street, Barangay 137. 

He said he heard a noise outside and then saw the suspects carting away his gas stoves.

The stolen items included two portable gas stoves, each valued at P5,000, and a fabricated stove worth P2,000. 

The items were later recovered by responding officers and marked as evidence. 

After the victim sought help from police, the suspects were quickly apprehended and the stolen items were recovered. 

The suspects were brought to the police station for further processing.

They were informed of their constitutional rights, though they opted to remain silent. 

They were later taken for medical examination at the Gat Andres Bonifacio Medical Center before being detained for the inquest proceedings at the City Prosecutor's Office of Manila.

Authorities are currently preparing charges for theft under Article 308 of the Revised Penal Code.
