No exemption: Mayor Vico orders removal of illegally-placed campaign materials, including his

With the official local campaign period set to start on March 28, Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto strongly emphasized that “Oplan Baklas” on election-related posters and tarpaulins placed outside the designated common poster areas will apply to all, including him and his allies.

On Monday, March 24, Sotto reminded all employees of their strict adherence to election campaign rules and prohibitions, particularly on tarpaulins and campaign materials.

He also reminded the Peace and Order Department, including Action Line, Bantay Pasig, and the Public Safety Division, as well as the Traffic and Parking Management Office (TPMO) and the Philippine National Police-Pasig, to strictly enforce the removal of campaign materials in unauthorized locations.

He urged them to immediately take down any campaign paraphernalia placed outside designated common poster areas, especially on street posts, walls, and trees (private or public property).

“Baklasin po natin agad. Halimbawa yung sa puno, ‘pag sa puno kahit private property ‘yan, tinatanggal po ‘yan. Bawal po sa mga poste na public, sa mga pader… tatanggalin po ‘yan (Campaign materials outside designated areas should be removed immediately. For example, those on trees, even on private property, will be taken down. Posting campaign materials are also not allowed on public posts and walls),” Sotto said.

“Kahit mukha ko po yung nandoon, kahit tarp po ng mga kakampi ko. Kapag bawal po na lugar ay tatanggalin, babaklasin po natin (Even if it’s my face on it, even if it’s my allies’ tarpaulins, if they’re in prohibited areas, they will be removed),” he added.

On Feb. 13, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) released the list of common poster areas for Pasig’s 2nd District. See photos below for the full list.
