Owl City’s hit single “Fireflies” has joined Spotify’s Billions Club, which celebrates songs that have surpassed one billion streams on the platform. This milestone marks Owl City’s first song to achieve this accomplishment.

“Fireflies” is the debut single from the synth-pop project formed by Adam Young. On Owl City's official Facebook page, Adam shared a brief message thanking fans for their support.

"A billion thank yous. I never imagined this when I recorded this little song in my bedroom. Thank you for all your support along the way. Here’s to a billion more."

“Fireflies” received Diamond certification from the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) in 2023, making it the second Dance/Electronic song ever to achieve this certification, following Avicii’s signature hit “Wake Me Up” featuring Aloe Blacc.
