DAVAO CITY – Veronica "Kitty" Duterte, daughter of former President Rodrigo Duterte, called on the public to remain resilient and continue supporting her father.
FORMER President Duterte
In a recorded video posted by the Sonshine Media Network International at the SMNI Gikan sa Masa, Para sa Masa Facebook page, Kitty visited their house at Doña Luisa Subdivision in Matina, Davao City, on Sunday, March 23.
Kitty, addressing the supporters holding a prayer vigil outside their house, encouraged them to prioritize electoral victories over confrontations.
She said they are exhausting all efforts until her father returns home.
"Let us not engage with them anymore. Let's make up for it in the elections. Don't forget to eat and rest. Let's keep praying for everything to be peaceful," Kitty said in the local dialect.
She thanked the people, including overseas Filipino workers, for their unwavering support for the former President.
Supporters and volunteers have been guarding the houses of the former Chief Executive and his children since his arrest on March 11 following reports of possible search warrants at their homes.
The Davao police denied that warrants have been issued.
Providing an update about the elder Duterte, Kitty said her father is fine.
She added that they sent him dried fish as he is used to Visayan food, but it was not allowed inside the detention facility.
His medicine has been delivered, and that her father is watching TV there.
“We are not sure yet as to when will he (FPRRD) return — it depends on the legal counsel. Let us keep praying. Do not stop praying. I love my father dearly. We won't stop until he comes home," Kitty said as the crowd chanted their surname.
Kitty assured everyone that her family deeply appreciates the ongoing rallies in support of her father.
She said they will keep fighting for his freedom. Their supporters said that they will also fight alongside the Dutertes.
