The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has reminded private sector employers to comply with wage payment rules for the four regular holidays and one special non-working day in April to ensure proper compensation for workers.

In Labor Advisory No. 04, series of 2025, DOLE outlined wage guidelines for Eid’l Fitr on Apr. 1, Araw ng Kagitingan on Apr. 9, Maundy Thursday on Apr. 17, Good Friday on Apr. 18, and Black Saturday on Apr. 19, the latter designated as a special non-working day under Proclamation No. 839.

Workers who do not report for duty on a regular holiday must still receive their full daily wage, provided they were present or on paid leave on the preceding workday.

Those required to work on these days are entitled to 200 percent of their daily wage for the first eight hours.

Overtime work must be compensated with an additional 30 percent of the hourly rate, while those working on a holiday that falls on their rest day must receive an extra 30 percent premium on top of their double pay.

For Black Saturday, the "no work, no pay" policy applies unless a company policy or a collective bargaining agreement provides otherwise.

Employees reporting for work on this day must receive an additional 30 percent of their basic wage for the first eight hours.

DOLE urged employers to strictly comply with the advisory, emphasizing that adherence to wage rules upholds workers' rights, prevents labor disputes, and ensures fair compensation during the holidays.
