Navotas City lone district Rep. Toby Tiangco has confirmed Las Piñas City lone district Rep. Camille Villar's status as still part of the administration-backed Alyansa para sa Bagong Pilipinas senatorial ticket.
As for reelectionist Senator Imee Marcos was concerned, it wasn't as clear-cut.
"The Nacionalista Party remains part of Alyansa. Las Pinas Representative Camille Villar was present in an Alyansa meeting last night (Monday)," Tiangco, Alyansa's campaign manager, told reporters on Tuesday night, March 25.
Both Villar and Senator Marcos are stalwarts of the Nacionalista Party (NP), one of several major political factions that comprise Alyansa.
Curiously, the two skipped Alyansa's campaign rallies in Cavite and Laguna last week. Incidentally, these were the two rallies that were held following former president Rodrigo Duterte's arrest and detention by the International Criminal Court (ICC).
Critics of President Marcos and supporters of Duterte have labelled ex-president's turnover as a "surrendering" of a Filipino citizens to a foreign body.
At any rate, Tiangco has confirmed that all is well between Villar and the 12-member Alyansa slate.
Regarding the presidential sister, Tiangco had this to say: "In many public statements, Senator Imee herself said that she was uncomfortable to attend Alyansa’s campaign sorties. We respect that choice."
"Alyansa will continue to inform voters that our senatorial candidates are capable with proven track record and experience, and they are here to help them improve their lives by supporting the flagship projects of the administration," he added.
During his endorsement speech at the Cavite and Laguna rallies, President Marcos didn't mention his sister. In Laguna, he even refered to Alansya as having only 11 members, down from 12.
Despite being listed as part of Alyansa at the start of the campaign period in February, Senator Marcos has always claimed to be an independent candidate.
