2 suspects in Aparri vice mayor's murder caught


CAMP MARCELO ADDURU, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – Police said two suspects in the murder of Aparri, Cagayan Vice Mayor Rommel Alameda and five companions in Barangay Kinacao, Bagabag, Nueva Vizcaya on Feb. 19, 2023 was arrested in Barangay Luna, Santa Rosa, Nueva Ecija on Tuesday, March 25.

The suspect was identified as Ramon, leader of the De Guzman Group, a Potential Private Armed Group operating in the province.

Also apprehended was another member of the organization linked to the murder – George from Mallorca, San Leonardo, Nueva Ecija. 

The suspects face six counts of murder with no bail recommended and are in the custody of the Bayombong Municipal Police Station Nueva Vizcaya, for documentation and booking procedures.

Police Brig. Gen. Antonio Marallag Jr., Police Regional Office 2 chief, said the criminal organization is composed of five members also operating in Cagayan province.

Marallag said the arrest pf the suspects is a testament to their unwavering commitment to ensure justice and upholding the rule of law in the Cagayan Valley region.

The National Bureau of Investigation  and the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency assisted police in arresting the suspects. (With a report from Freddie Lazaro)
