2 hurt, 30 families displaced in Caloocan fire


Two persons were hurt and around 30 families were displaced in a fire that broke out in Barangay 176-A Bagong Silang, Caloocan City, on Tuesday, March 25.

According to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the fire spread quickly and gutted eight houses.

The BFP identified one of the injured victims as Ernesto Bucog who sustained burns on his back, arm, and neck.

Meanwhile, the details of the other victim were not disclosed by the authorities. 

“Nakahiga ako naanunahan ko na lang na mainit na bumangon na lang ako pagtingin ko ang laki na ng apoy pumapasok na sa bahay ko. Sana kung merong tutulong sa akin manawagan kasi wala na akong bahay wala na matuluyan sana may maawa sa akin. (I felt heat while lying down, so I got up and saw that the fire was already entering my house. I have no home or place to stay anymore. I hope someone will help me.),” Bucog said.

Authorities are looking for the owner of house where the fire started. reportedly fled during the incident.

"Makakaasa po sila na makakapag-supply, magdadala kami ng pagkain para sa kanila. Marami naman tayo mapagkukunan ng tulong. Kung sa usapin po ng mga damit nila, pwede kami makatulong din para meron silang magamit. (We will bring food and clothing for them),” Joel Bacolod, village chairman of Barangay 176-A, said.
