Local government units in Metro Manila earned over P64 million in February this year from the penalties paid by violators of various ordinances that are strictly being implemented by the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) since December last year.
NCRPO director Brig. Gen. Anthony A. Aberin said a total of 216,213 violators were arrested in February this year, a total of 86,536 of them were fined while 126,428 others were warned.
“The increasing trend in our accomplishments reflects our unwavering commitment towards safety and security. With our aggressive and consistent stance in implementing ordinances, we are fostering a culture of discipline, public cooperation, and mutual respect for the rule of law,” said Aberin.
Aberin launched the aggressive implementation of all local ordinances in December last year, the move was aimed at instilling discipline among residents and visitors in Metro Manila.
Among the ordinances are ban on smoking in public, curfew on minors, ban on drinking in public places, littering, roaming around shirtless and even use of karaoke beyond the allowed time.
In December last year, a total of 200,642 violators were apprehended while the LGUs earned ₱52,686,093.00. In January this year, a total of 192,063 were apprehended and a total of ₱57,038,334.00 fines were paid.

“The continued rise in enforcement actions reflects the region’s proactive and sustained policing efforts,” he added.
