Globe to offer free access to anti-scam app

Globe Telecom Inc. is set to grant prepaid and postpaid subscribers free access to anti-scam application Whoscall, under its newly formed partnership with global TrustTech company Gogolook.

Whoscall, developed by Taiwan-based Gogolook, seeks to equip Globe customers with tools to protect their digital security amid the proliferation of online scams.

In a statement on Monday, March 24, Globe’s Consumer Mobile Business Officer-in-Charge (OIC) Eric Tanbauco said the telco giant is committed to safeguard its customers, ensuring they can connect safely and confidently.

“Our partnership with Gogolook empowers our users with an added layer of security, equipping them with the tools they need to identify and block potential scams,” said Tanbauco.

"At Globe, protecting our customers from online threats is a top priority,” he added.

Whoscall offers security features designed to crack down on online scams and protect users from online threats.

The app features a Caller ID function that identifies incoming calls, indicating whether they are from a safe contact or a potential scammer.

It also includes a Web Checker feature that scans links to flag malicious websites, as well as ID Security that monitors the dark web for leaked personal information.

“These features are crucial as online threats become increasingly sophisticated and prevalent across various digital platforms,” Gogolook stated.

Based on its website, Whoscall Premium will cost customers ₱79 per month or a yearly rate of ₱949.

This will now be available for free for 12 months for postpaid and prepaid customers, including Globe Platinum, via Globe Rewards or Globe Rewards+ on the GlobeOne app.

Customers may find step-by-step instructions through a text message, and they may activate their access until Aug. 30.

“With free access to Whoscall Premium Basic, Globe customers can enjoy additional features that make protecting their digital security easier,” Gogolook Philippines Country Head Mel Migriño.

“In a constantly connected society, staying safe online has never been more important,” she added.
